Learn about the concept of code-switching and how adjusting one’s style of speech, appearance, behavior, and expression are optimized, in exchange for fair treatment, quality service, and employment opportunities. Engage in conversation around why people code-switch, hear real life examples, and hold conversations about how this practice shows up at your company, and it means for your culture and overall bottom line when looking to attract a diverse workforce.
During this interactive session participants will explore the impact of code switching in the workplace though the following objectives:
- Understanding the impact of Code Switching and how/why it shows up in the workplace
- Be aware of the impact Code Switching has on culture and inclusion
- Realize through examples how code switching can styme efforts to having a diverse and inclusive organization and increase costs to the company
- Hearing from people that have had to code switch within their organizations and the impact that it has had on their professional career
