Working with LGBTQ Folx

The Milwaukee LGBT Community Center is dedicated to serving the needs of LGBTQ people and to making the Greater Milwaukee area safer and more inclusive. Their focus is on anti-violence, healthy relationships, counseling, Youth & Elder Adult programming and more. For this reason, we have engaged their team in a dynamic discussion to look at how HR professionals can support members of the LGBTQ community in the workplace.

Leading this disucussion will be:

Sandra Zapata is the Counseling and Advocacy Coordinator at the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center. Sandra graduated with her Master’s of Art in Psychology from University of the Rockies. Sandra moved to Milwaukee from Des Moines, Iowa, where she worked as an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights. Sandra also worked with victims and survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault for several years.

Deidra Williams is the Youth Program Coordinator for the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center. Deidra was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Deidra attended the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater where she obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work with a minor in Human Resources Management. Deidra has worked in social work for 16 years and has been an advocate for LGBTQ youth. Aside from Deidra's passion for youth, Deidra is passionate about traveling (especially cruising).
